Sitting on a thyme bomb

Beautiful day so took the opportunity and went out to sketch. Found what I wanted and sat down on the thyme and was surrounded by the smell and the heat of the sun. Almost like summer but I was wearing a little more layers. I could see the snow on the Pyrenees in the distance, lit up by the sun. A lovely clear day and with the heat it makes all the difference. For once the tension of the cold frosty days melted away.  The scene of a little path surrounded by rosemary and thyme led to an ancient hut used by the workers of the vines in the heat of the summer. A small scrub oak still with its withered leaves shone like gold in the sun. The little hut made of the local golden ochre sand stone echoed the colour. The hills behind in a hazy shadow with little highlights of warmth. The snowy mountains just showing up against a blue sky. Magic!
